THAT Accent

Sobrang babaw ng dahilan but last night, I was literally SMILING before going to sleep.  Why?  Because I had watched the interview of A1‘s Ben Adams with Boy Abunda.  It was already around 12:15AM, but I didn’t care — I had to finish the entire Bandila show just to watch a rare interview of one of my boyband member crushes that dates back more than a DECADE ago!!! ;)

So anyway, A1 is here in the Philippines because they have a concert tomorrow, February 25, 2012 (Saturday) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with Blue and 98 DegreesJeff Timmons. :D

Too bad I can’t find a copy of THE interview on the Internet, but I hope this video will suffice:

It’s all about THAT accent, yo! :P

Sabi nga ni Karen Davila, kung may LINsanity na nagaganap sa mga panahong ito, pwes kagabi, namayagpag ang BENsanity!  Numero unong trending topic agad sa Twitter (Philippines) ang interview!!!

Seriously, what is it with THAT accent anyway?  I know it always “has” ME in that Jerry-Maguire-you-had-me-at-hello kind of way AND I know for a fact that I’m not the only one!  Most girls fall for it, too!

Honestly, if the Brits could think of using their “accent” as a form of a marketing strategy, it might just work — at least for ME!  I know this because I think I might just be getting A1‘s latest album…  thanks to THAT interview and yes, thanks to THAT accent!  Haha! ♥

So yeah.  UNFORTUNATELY for me, I won’t able to watch the concert!  Boo-hoo. :(  But FORTUNATELY for me, I can always go to the nearest record store and buy THIS:

-Excerpt from the interview-

Ben Adams: Why do you think roses have thorns?
Boy Abunda: Because beauty is deadly!

(Meganon talaga Tito Boy?!  Wala na tuloy ibang nasabi si Ben kundi TAYNK YOW!  *in THAT sexy British accent of his* HA HA HA)

Oh well.  Gotta keep calm and carry on…
And oh, long live the Queen! :)

A Beauty Affair To Remember

Last week, I was able to attend a bloggers event by Kanebo Cosmetics. :D

the so-called VIP Beauty Affair :)

“LIKE” Kanebo PhilippinesFacebook page here.

Kanebo Cosmetics actually dates back in 1937.

“…The company entered the cosmetics industry in the following year [1937] and quickly grew to become Japan’s second largest manufacturer of cosmetics.  Kanebo Cosmetics products are now sold in 53 countries and regions around the world.

Kanebo Cosmetics spun off from Kanebo in 2004 as a company specialized exclusively in cosmetics.  In 2006, it came under the wing of the Kao Group, Japan’s largest manufacturer of household consumer goods…”  (To know more about Kanebo‘s Company Outline, click here.)

In fact, I remember that my mom used Kanebo waaay back when I was still a kid.  So yeah, you can say that it’s already a tried-and-tested brand for years — heck, even generations!  (Read: since the 1930′s.)

Anyway, Kanebo Philippines presented three product lines during the event: Impress, Kate, and Lunasol. ♥♥♥

I can say that Kate is more youth-oriented, while Lunasol is more high-end.

As for Impress, it “is a total anti-aging skincare product line for those who know the joy of keeping themselves refined.”  Obviously, it’s a skincare line — which was actually launched on the day of the event.

Here are some things from the press kit for me to share to you:

And can I just emphasize more on “KATE”?  As in Kate Beckinsale, Kate Winslet, and of course, KATE MIDDLETON!  Hahaha, just kidding!  But yes, KAAATE!  I already love the “name,” so having a whole makeup line named after it is just. plain. PERFECT!!!  At least for me, but you already know why.  Heehee. ♥

Kanebo Cosmetics' KATE line :)

Of course cocktails were served, and I even gained a new friend — Poala!  Nice, huh?

a new-found friend + cocktails = awesome sauce! :)

And if that wasn’t enough, I got to bring home THESE:

Kikay stuff I brought home! Yay!!! :)

Aside from the name (haha!), I’m already loving the Kate blush (I got the RD-1) because it’s very compact!  It can easily fit into my bag and after months of searching for a new blush (yes, it’s been a long time coming), I think I finally found it — thanks to Kanebo‘s Kate line!

So a big THANK YOU to my friend Noriko Hanajima of Summit Media and Yannie Valencia of Kanebo Philippines for inviting me last week.  Looking forward to THE next event!  (Yes, there’s another one coming up!  Heehee.) ;)

Keep calm and (as Kanebo puts it) FEEL YOUR BEAUTY,
The Lady xoxo

Family Night

February 18, 2012.  My family and I attended a thanksgiving dinner for our grandparents’ joint death anniversary.

We love you Lolo Joe and Lola Vic! Rest assured, you'll forever be in our hearts!!! ♥

It started with a Mass…  then dinner…  and of course, ENTERTAINMENT courtesy of The Executives Band! :D

My Tito Hector and cousin Julius Sanvictores are actually part of the aforementioned band, as well as one of my favorite bloggers, Cara Manglapus — who also happens to be the only girl member-slash-vocalist of the said group.

The Executives Band

The Executives Band's Cara Manglapus

That night, I was also lucky enough to have finally met her.  (Thanks to my cousin Julius for introducing us!  Haha!)

another "fangirl moment" for me! =))

Check out Cara‘s blog HERE.

And of course, who can forget our much needed “cousin bonding!”  One just tied the knot, the other WILL also tie the knot within the year, and then another one just got engaged too!  Sooo, hindi naman ako masyado na-prepressure ng mga pinsan ko noh?!  Oh well.  HA HA HA

Anyway, meet my beautiful and handsome cousins!  And along the way, guess who’s who! :P

Couples' Corner ♥♥♥

After our thanksgiving dinner, we made the most of our “bonding time” by deciding to go to a spa across the street.  Spontaneous Moment #1.

at Babaylan Spa

Babaylan Spa‘s second branch is located at Scout Tuazon, Quezon City.  You can avail of their full-body massage for only Php450.  But if you prefer a quicker way to relax, you can opt for a foot massage (Php300) or foot spa (Php350).  Aside from the fact that it’s open from 9-2am (yes, 2AM!!!), I love Babaylan Spa for its location.  Let’s just say that its location is where I had most of my childhood memories, and THAT place will forever hold a special place in my heart JUST BECAUSE. :)

And if that wasn’t enough, we all decided to drink MILK TEA in the wee hours of the night (read: 2am)!  We went to four different milk tea places along Tomas Morato but unfortunately, the first three milk tea places we went to were already closed.  Luckily, we found SerendipiTea!!!

My SerendipiTea = milk tea fix at 2am!

Visit My SerendipiTea‘s Facebook page here.

And that was our Spontaneous Moment #2. ;)  Ah, one of the good things about spending time with my cousins: SPONTANEITY.  We may not have the chance to meet as often as we want to but when we do, it’s something I always look forward to!  So there.  See you next time!  (And I do hope it’s SOON, too!!!)

The Lady is now out!
:D :D :D

Mercato Centrale at Midnight

After going to a friend’s party, Mika and I decided to drop by Mercato Centrale at Bonifacio Global City. The original plan was to go home early, but I just had to take her there for self-fulfillment purposes. The Midnight Mercato runs from 10pm-2am every Friday and Saturday. The place is practically a food Bazaar! We arrived there around 11pm. There were less people that night compared to other days I’ve been there. We also got lucky as we easily found an empty table for us to seat. I ate Shabu-Shabu …

“…but I just had to take her there for self-fulfillment purposes.” -yes, consider ME one very SATISFIED Midnight Mercato-goer! Thanks for finally bringing me there, C! We’ll definitely be back!!! :D

Sweet Stuff ♥♥♥

Professor Utonium sure thought well when he decided to create the Powerpuff Girls with “sugar, spice, and everything nice!” :D  But before I completely get carried away and take a very long trip down my childhood memory lane, I’ll stick to the first ingredient: SUGAR.  THAT and a spoonful of honey on the side, please!  Mix them together and you get one ♪ “Sugar, Oh Honey, Honey” singing ME! ♫  Hahaha, sabaaaw!

Forgive me.  It’s just that you know… tomorrow’s…  tomorrow’s…  wait, what IS tomorrow, anyway? ;)  Yeeaaah, let’s stop there alright for tomorrow’s A DAY THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED!  So enough with the bitterness and ON to some SWEETNESS!  Hahaha!

I’ve been planning to write this entry for weeksss now, and I guess it’s timely since tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day.  There, I said IT.  Not that I care, thank you very much. :P  But seriously, if you’re looking for some SWEET STUFF to buy for and give to YOURSELF (you can give them to “others” too, but that’s completely optional!  HA HA HA), I’ve two recommendations:

THE BODY BAKERY

(photo courtesy of The Body Bakery)

Don’t let its name fool you!  The Body Bakery‘s actually a cosmetics line straight from the U.S. of A!  Luckily, it’s already available in the Philippines through this site.

Some of the things you can buy from The Body Bakery are their Lip Butter, Whipped Cream, and Body & Hair Icing.  I’ve been using their Lip Butter for almost a year now and I plan to be a loyal and VERY SATISFIED customer for as long as I can!  You see, aside from the fact that it really works, they also have a selection of oh-so-yummy flavors and scents!  Their best-seller’s the Wedding Cake variant, but my personal favorite’s Lavender Cream Puff! ♥

(photo courtesy of The Body Bakery)

(photo courtesy of The Body Bakery)

Again, trust me when I say that IT REALLY WORKS!!!  So if you happen to be in the search for the next best kikay thing, I say go give The Body Bakery a try!  Just a warning, though: try to resist eating their products because they may smell as good as freshly-baked pastries, but they’re NOT food!  At least not literally. :)

SOPHIE’S MOM

Now, if you’re REALLY looking for “food,” then THIS is the part where I introduce to you Sophie’s Mom.  Let’s start with THESE:

Union Jack made of Nutella Mochi (photo courtesy of Sophie's Mom)

Red Velvet Cupcakes topped with British flags made of Nutella Mochi (photo courtesy of Sophie's Mom)

The pictures you just saw were some of Sophie’s Mom‘s creations for a London-themed party they served last year.  And dang, judging from what you just saw, you’ll already know that THIS is one very satisfied Lady!!! ♥

I’ve been reading about Sophie’s Mom for quite some time already that’s why one fateful sweldo day, I decided to treat myself to some of their delectable treats!  Yes, treat and treats.  Redundant, much?  =))  Anyway, their bakery is located in Makati but since I couldn’t go there directly (even though I also work in Makati!), I used the good ‘ol “delivery” method!  So what did I get?

I ordered:

- 1 piece each of Chocolate and Frozen Brazo Mochi Ice Cream;

- 2 pieces of Red Velvet Cupcakes (they’re homemade AND they’re topped with cream cheese!);

- 3 pieces of Nutella Mochi Truffles; and,

- 4 pieces of Stookies (they’re cookies stuffed with Oreo!)

Obviously, I tried all of their best-sellers BUT I won’t mind ordering their other products, too, the next time I have the chance!  And oh, I did NOT eat all those by myself ah!  Of course I shared them with some of my office friends, and I think they’ll also agree that Sophie’s Mom deserves a TWO-THUMBS UP from each and every one of us!  Okay, ako na ang defensive!  Rawr!!!

For more information (and better product photos!), you can check out Sophie’s Mom‘s
official site, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

So there, you’re already set for Valentine’s Day!!! :)

WAAIIIT…

…Valentine’s Day???  What the hell’s THAT?!

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

NEED I SAY MOOORE? ;)

Keep calm and have your sweet tooth on!

Travelers of The Month: North America According to Danica and Pia

For this month — the month of HEARTS (or hurts!  Chos!) —  I’ve prepared a very special feature.  Why?  Because I’m not just going to feature one traveler, but TWO travelers!  That’s right.  I’ll be featuring two of my college friends, Danica and Pia, who’ve been kind enough to share with us their adventures in North America respectively!

...with Danica. By the way, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! :D

...with Pia. :D

But before that, let’s get to know D and P first, shall we?  So, let’s get the ball rolling…

When do you think the “travel bug” has bitten you?

DANICA: My love for traveling started when I was really young.  I remember my mom would always bring me to Hong Kong with her when she was looking for a possible market for our recruitment business.  I remember then that I’d memorize MTR lanes and stops at a young age.  Also, my dad was very fond of mapping when we are traveling and so, that somehow made me love traveling and getting to THE destination.

Top- Canada; Center- London; Bottom from left- Hong Kong and Malaysia.

PIA: For many years, I’ve been surrounded with people who love to travel.  And since I was a little kid, with relatives and friends going in and out of town, I’ve always dreamed of traveling, riding airplanes, and exploring different types of food and cultures.  I actually labeled 2011 as my travel year, went to different awesome places in the country as much as I could, with my U.S. and Canada trips being the highlights of my travel year.

Canada (Top- Downtown Toronto; Bottom- trip to the Niagara Falls)

How many countries have you traveled to so far?

D: I’m not so sure.  The first few countries I visited when I was young were Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.  The family tours that followed were in Canada, a few countries in Europe, and then the U.S.

P: So far, I’ve been to only three countries [excluding the Philippines]: Hong Kong, the U.S., and Canada. I still have a long list of interesting countries to visit.  This month, I’ll be in Singapore with my friends — it’ll be my first time to go there and I’m very excited!

Do you travel with your family?  If so, how can you describe traveling with them?

D: Yes, it always feels good to travel with my family.  I always feel that we get closer after every trip that we have.  Also, we get to share more stories with our relatives when we get back.  For example, when we went to New York last May 2011, I got to hangout with my bestfriend from gradeschool and sharing stories with my brother (who was traveling with me then) when we went out for drinks made me feel good about the whole trip — it gave a sense of a sharing experience.  During that trip, I got a lot closer to my uncle as well.  He had the week off and booked a trip to New York with us.  He showed us around the city since it was our first time.

P: I travel mostly by myself or with my friends.  In my recent U.S. and Canada trips, I traveled alone.  I was on a total of eight flights.  Yes, it was tiring to carry around huge bags (not to mention not having someone to talk to while on the plane for hours!), but the excitement of getting out of the plane and being in a totally different place made everything so worth it.

What’s “traveling” for you?  How does it affect you?

D: Traveling has always been an exciting experience for me. I’m a very curious individual and I always love learning something new about something or someone.  Traveling has helped me understand better the different cultures and traditions we have and so, it has become something I always look forward to.

Danica‘s TRAVEL TIP: “Always, always travel light.  You can always buy things that you need, clothes in particular, in different destinations.  Plus, they can serve as souvenirs.”

P: For me, traveling’s something everyone should do while they’re still young.  Aside from escaping from your stressful day-to-day life, I believe it’s also a way of discovering how life is lived in other places.  Travel and be inspired!  Don’t pass up the chance to travel while you’re still young because when you get older, there may be a slimmer chance for you to do it.

Pia‘s TRAVEL TIP: “For all those jetsetter wannabes like me, when planning your next vacation, make sure you do some research first before going — for safety and security purposes — then leave everything else for adventure!”

♥♥♥

The U.S. of America According to Danica

Danica has been to the United States before, but her latest U.S. trip last May 2011 was actually her first time to visit both Hawaii and New York.  BUT it was Hawaii that has left a bigger impact on her.  She said, “Hawaii felt like an extension of my province — Ilocos Norte — since most of our relatives are there and I met a lot of people who speak Ilokano.  I got to encounter a lot of Filipinos in Hawaii, especially at Ala Moana’s food court — who were mostly Ilokano, too.”

Ala Moana

“So far, I’ve been to California (Los Angeles and San Francisco), Texas, New York, and Hawaii.  Visiting the U.S. is always about visiting some of our relatives.  It’s just that lately, it has also been about visiting a few friends since we’re a bit ‘grown-ups’ now.”

Top- Hawaii; Bottom from left- California and New York.

When asked about the place in the U.S. that has left a big impact on her, Danica shared, “I will never forget my Hawaii trip last May 2011.  Saying that I had a great time’s an understatement.  My stay in the island lasted for a week, and choosing to stay at Kuhio Avenue was so worth it.  I crossed the street to get to the International Market Place, Waikiki Beach, and a stretch of awesome-ness!  Everything was just close to everything, and having to ride the bus wasn’t a pain in the ass compared to riding a bus in Manila.  The week-long trip was unforgettable, but I’ll share those that made it at the top of my list.

Waikiki Beach

“I guess one unforgettable experience I had would be the one over at Hanauma Bay.  It was a great day, the sun was up, and I was so ready to go snorkeling and see the reefs and fishes up close (imagine seeing Nemo and Dory), but it was such a struggle for me because it was low tide on that day!  I tried to swim and simply checked out the beautiful reefs and fishes.  At first, I was really freaking out because they were really close to my face and they’re slimy as f***!  Hahaha!  But eventually I got used to the ‘closeness.’  Right after my adventure, I saw that my legs were full of scratches and bruises.  Reefs are a bad idea when it’s low tide, but the view was just too breathtaking to miss!

Hanauma Bay

“I also enjoyed the Diamond Head trail, a two-mile hike involving steep, dusty, and dark-in-others trail that allowed me to see the beautiful view of O’ahu.

Diamond Head Trail

“And when it comes to food, I’m not hard to please.  I’ve always enjoyed In-N-Out, Cheesecake Factory, the Yardhouse, Panda Express, and Chipotle.”

Danica‘s TRAVEL TIP for those planning to visit the United States:

“When traveling in the U.S., well, sunblock is a must!  Nakakalinlang ang cold weather nila.”

Canada According to Pia

Pia‘s latest Canada trip was short and sweet.  She was also in the U.S. for a three-week vacation, and then she decided to spend a week with his brother and his family who are now living in Toronto.  She remembered, “I was able to make the most of it.  We went to different interesting places.”

A photo of Pia with her brother Marvin, sister-in-law Emily, and niece Mara taken inside the Eaton Center, downtown Toronto.

The Niagara Falls: "One of the most beautiful and breathtaking views I've ever laid my eyes on. Standing right in front of it was like standing in front of a 4D painting, complete with cool mist spraying all over my face."

She was also lucky to have witnessed the annual Santa Claus Parade, a tradition which started in 1905.

"I've always thought dinosaur fossils only exist in movies like 'Jurassic Park,' but I actually saw real ones in ROM or Royal Ontario Museum - a museum of world culture and natural history."

Canon Theatre - a historic film and play theatre built in the 1920's.

"One of the major tourist destinations in Canada, the CN Tower, is one of the world's tallest structures ever built."

"My 'chocolate tower.' This photo was taken in a restaurant called 360, inside the CN tower. It's a fine-dining restaurant that literally revolves to offer a great 360 view of Toronto - 1,515 feet above the ground! To those planning to visit Toronto, make sure you don't miss this place."

"Tourists, like me, dared to stand on the glass floors."

"Tim Horton's is Canada's version of Starbucks. There's one in every corner. I was able to try their biscuits (so good!) and of course, their ever-famous French Vanilla."

Pia‘s TRAVEL TIP for those planning to visit Canada:

“If you’re planning to visit Canada, make sure you’re prepared for the cold weather.  I went there during the fall and I wore layers of clothes.”

"Here's a photo of me and my niece inside the subway. It's much easier to go around by taking the bus and the train than driving your own car."

♥♥♥

When all has been TRAVELED TO and done, the “travel bug” will still keep on “bugging” you!  That’s why Danica and Pia have other dream destinations…

D: My next dream destinations are Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.  I’d like to check out Australia and New Zealand for job opportunities, really.  But I’m very much curious about the pure adrenaline drive people are crazy about (bungee jumping, paragliding, and sky diving).  With Japan, basically, I want to see the cherry blossoms and an ice bar.

P: I don’t have a particular dream destination as of yet.  I’m just inspired by my friends and their experiences in different places in the Philippines and in other countries.

And that wraps up North America according to my two friends Danica and Pia! :D  How about you?  What’s your DREAM DESTINATION?

Well, I think you can agree with Danica first for next month, I’ll be featuring my next continent: OCEANIA (or AUSTRALIA).  See you again on the 12th of March!!!

Keep calm and travel on. ;)

“Lady Mikhaela Georgette” by Teresa Wee Sit

The Lady's Header

I’d just like to say thanks to Ms. Teresa Wee Sit (or simply Tet) for making this LOVELY and WONDERFUL artwork (she only used paint!) for my blog. :D

I don’t just like it, I LOOOVE it!!! ♥

Watch Mamma Mia, Go to Baguio

Sooo, I had another EPIC weekend.  And knowing me, I just have to blog about it — again!  But hey, this is a PERSONAL blog after all.  So what did you expect?  Haha!

Anyway, let’s start with ba-ba-ba-BAGUIO!!! :D

My family and I went to Baguio for the weekend since my brother-in-law was already there anyway for a golf tournament.  We stayed at one of The Manor‘s family suites in Camp John Hay, and that’s where all the epic-ness started!

If you’ve been to The Manor (or Baguio in general), I think you’ll agree that the weather isn’t the same in Manila.  And when I say “not the same,” I mean it in a positive way!  I don’t know about you, but I’m actually a “cold person” — meaning, I looove anything cold, including the cold weather!  But if you want to interpret my being a “cold person” in a different way, that’s NOT my business anymore!  Go ahead, feel free to do so.

Hahaha! Of course, I kid! :P

Moving on, here are some more shots of The Manor:

view from our room

Aside from savoring the awesome cold weather (I heard that it was 10 °C when we were in Baguio), I just practically took advantage of the fact that I could be a “bum” in my own right for at least a day.  So some of the things I did while in The Manor Baguio were watching DVDs (Bridesmaids and Chances Are — which by the way stars a very young Robert Downey, Jr.  So spell H-O-T!), eating, shopping at the outlet stores, eating, having a massage at the spa, and yes, EATING!  EATING!!  EATING!!!

two of my newest discoveries! HARHARHAR

Hay, kaya nakakarir ko ang pag-shoshorts sa Baguio eh…  eh pa’no, marami kasing baong “fats” ang legs ko!  (Read: mga pata!)  Wahahahaha!

jump shots! :P

Well, ganun talaga!  Gotta love my cuuurves, people!  And yes, gotta take advantage of the cold weather I’m so deprived of while in Manila!  Kaya shorts all the way talaga!!!  HA HA HA

But seriously, if you’re planning to GO TO BAGUIO, stay at The Manor.  It’s ALL good!!!  I actually give it a rating of: FIVE HEARTS (♥♥♥♥♥)

And then… there’s MAMMA MIA!

The Lady's outfit wouldn't be complete without her favorite accessory - anything UNION JACK! Hehehe.

Speaking of the U.K., did you know that MAMMA MIA! The Musical is actually an original British production???  Ooh, plus!  plus!  points there!!! ;)

Anywhooo, I watched it last Friday at CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) with my sisters and MY, MY, it was totally a very, very, lovely show!  Of course my ticket was the cheapest (tumataginting na Php772.50 lang naman), but who cares?  Nilibre lang naman ako eh…  magrereklamo pa ba ako?! =))

view from my seat... not THAT bad! Haha!

my "cheap," but totally worth it ticket!

Besides… all those “accents,” all those witty lines, and all those wonderful ABBA songs?  Totally WORTH IT!!!  I actually plan on watching it again if I have the time… this time, with a more “expensive” ticket for a better view, and yes, a better “musical” experience!  Rawr!

But yeah, you and I have to hurry because the show runs until February 19, 2012 only.  We can cross our fingers and hope that it gets extended, but why depend on wishful thinking when you already have the power in your hands NOW?  At meganon talaga?!

Sabi nga ng ate ko,

Kung gusto niyo sumaya, manood kayo ng MAMMA MIA!

Oha, rhyming lang si a-TEH!  But it’s true.  If you want to be happy, head to CCP and WATCH MAMMA MIA! now!!!  I promise, it’s a rating of FIVE HEARTS and mooore (♥♥♥♥♥+++++)!
