Hotties from Faraway Lands! (Vol. 3)

You’ve seen the title.  THIS is already a third attempt to compile a list of not just “the most this, the most that” kind of men, but a combination of everything: talent, looks, fortune, brawn, and the most important of all — brains!  Combine them all and I believe that’s the true definition of “HOT!”  (Sorry, Paris.)

Of course, these are just some of the popular ones.  So for those who make the cut IN REAL LIFE, cheer up!  And of course, keep it up!  Hahaha!

But yeah, I gotta start naming names sooner or later, so here are they are:

THE HOTTIES FROM FARAWAY LANDS

#10 Dominic Lau
(Faraway Land of Origin: Hong Kong/The United Kingdom)

This British-Chinese VJ-slash-model-slash-host’s love for music can be traced back to his university years.  After all, he graduated with a degree in Commercial Music from the University of Westminster in London!  Currently,  you can catch him on E! News Asia as he delivers the latest AND hottest celebrity news straight from your TV screens.  No doubt he’s dubbed as Asia’s “Ryan Seacrest.”  Idol-worthy, indeed.

#9 Nick Simmons
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

I came to know of his existence thanks to his family’s reality show: Gene Simmons Family Jewels.  Having said that, YES, he’s the son of Gene Simmons (from the rock band Kiss).  But aside from having a famous rock star father, Nick‘s famous in his own right too!  He graduated with a degree in English Literature from Pitzer College in California and according to Wikipedia, he’s “a comic book writer, musician, and voice over actor.”  Yeah, well, you should’ve heard him sing during his parents’ wedding on their reality show.  The guy CAN sing!  Heck, hearing him talk is already music to my ears!  Last but not least, he’s funny!  Now, now.  You can never go wrong with humor, can you? :P

#8 Oli Pettigrew
(Faraway Land of Origin: Hong Kong/The United Kingdom)

He may be born in Hong Kong, but he’s currently residing in Singapore.  You might’ve spotted him at some high-profile events, but I first set eyes on this British model/host on AXN’s Sony Style.  Of course, he also holds a degree in Corporate Communication — with honors!  And if that’s not enough, I believe you can still catch him on Cash Cab Asia (not to mention listen to his adorable British accent!)

#7 Matthew Atkinson
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

The “small screen” may be his current specialty, but I don’t doubt that he has what it takes to be the lead on a “bigger” screen someday.  But while we’re still waiting for that to happen, watch him on Jane by Design.  Trust me, you won’t be able to get enough of that smile AND those dimples! :)

#6 Ryan Lochte
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

Fresh from the 2012 London Olympics!  Aside from graduating with a degree in Sport Management from the University of Florida, this Olympian already has several medals to his name!  And even though the swimming portion of the current Olympics will soon end, this Olympian’s not yet done collecting ‘em!  Talk about a “gold” rush!  Haha!

#5 Colin Egglesfield
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

Tom Cruise?  Naaah!  There’s more to Colin than just being an actor and former model.  He actually hold’s a pre-med course from the University of Iowa and paying for med school was the only reason why he got into modeling in the first place (at least that’s what Wikipedia says!  Hahaha!).  Not to worry, though.  He may have given up his dream of being a doctor, but he sure played one very hot lawyer in the movie Something Borrowed!  How’s that for a career change?! :D

#4 Matt Bomer
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

Let’s drop the bomb right away: he’s gay.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I’ve to admit that I was surprised when I first found out!  But moving on, he still earns a spot in this list because aside from graduating with a degree in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, he and his partner also father three sons (through a surrogate).  Now that’s what you call BOMER diggity!

#3 Harry Styles
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United Kingdom)

British?  Check.  Hot body?  Are you blind?  Of course, check!  Killer smile?  Check.  Music career?  Big check AND cheques!  There’s definitely only ONE DIRECTION for this lad to go to: SUCCESS!  And yes, that’s check!  check!!  check!!!

#2 Chris Hemsworth
(Faraway Land of Origin: Australia)

There are simply no words for this man.  How can you not include the god of thunder in this list?  Well, that’s just it.  You cannot not include him!  And since we’re already used to seeing those rock hard abs and bulky arms of his, I’ll leave you with this picture.  After all, it’s not everyday that you get to see an Avenger holding his real-life baby!  *all THORgether now*  Awwww!

…and of course, THE HOTTEST of ‘em all:

#1 Benedict Cumberbatch
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United Kingdom)

“Stop boring me and think.  It’s the new sexy.”  The famous character he plays once said on his equally famous TV show.  And I agree.  Brainy, indeed, is the new sexy!  A drama graduate at the University of Manchester, he further trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.  And judging from his interviews, the guy’s not just intelligent and talented, I can say that he has tact and respect for women, is a gentleman, and knows how to keep fit too!

Oh yeah, consider me SHERLOCKed.

And there you go!  Don’t worry if your “hottie” of choice wasn’t included here.  There’s always room for Vol. 4, you know?

The end. ;)

A Floating Bookstore, A Dose of Carbon Dioxide, And A Whole Lot of Fun!!!

Weird title?  Heehee.  But yeah.  Even though this is already considered a “late” post, let me tell you first about my Manila adventure with my two friends Mark and Maica, one fine (spontaneous) day…

(photo courtesy of my friend Mark)

Last week, we went to the heart of Manila with the hope of having a one-of-a-kind bookstore experience: the MV Logos Hope.  As self-proclaimed bookworms, the three of us traveled all the way from Makati just to have our hands on very rare, but cheap finds! :D  But lo and behold, it seemed that we lacked in the “research” department because when we finally arrived at the gate, we were told that the ship’s closed on Mondays!  On MONDAYS!!!  And we went there on a Monday.  Fuuudge. :|

Since we didn’t want to “waste” one whole trip (not to mention “excitement”), we decided to go to the Manila Ocean Park instead.

And that’s when ALL THE FUN started!!!

MANILA OCEAN PARK

It was already my second time to go there and honestly, I didn’t even think that I’d be back when I went there the first time!  Oh well.  I guess this spontaneous “excursion” was another proof that it doesn’t matter WHERE you are…  what matters is WHO you’re with!  Ahem!

Plus, it was nice to see Maica HAPPY after finally seeing penguins in the flesh!  Trust me, you don’t know how much she loves ‘em!!! ;)

Maica and her beloved penguins!!!

As for me, I kind of “penguined” out when it was my turn to feed them…  that’s why I could only get as close to a penguin like THIS:

penguin hugs, anyone? HA HA HA

Good thing there was also another attraction to SMILE about inside the Trails to Antarctica part of the Park: SNOW VILLAGE!!!

Traveling to Antarctica is a dream of mine too, ya know? :P

Ready for some snow...

...and MORE "FAKE" SNOW!

After that, we decided to try a five-minute 4D movie (thanks to my insistence!) located at the mall outside the Park.

But wait, there’s more…

Once at the lobby, I suddenly saw a familiar “sight” — Mr. Carlos Celdran of Walk This Way fame!

ME: Carlos Celdran!

CARLOS CELDRAN: Hi, how are you?

ME: *smiling like an idiot* =))

I swear, I’ve been planning to go to one of Mr. Celdran‘s Manila tours since time immemorial, that’s why seeing him in person even before availing of his tour spelled only one word: STARSTRUCK!  Hahaha!

I plan to FINALLY avail of his tour THIS YEAR and of course by that time, I promise to have my picture taken with him already.  Don’t worry…  knowing me, you’ll read all about THAT on THIS beloved blog of miiine!  *more hahahas*

Lastly (for that Monday), I realized that with happiness comes PANIC MODE!  On the way home while on the jeep, I witnessed my very first “snatch” encounter!  I don’t want to rehash the details anymore, but I was ThisClose to being the victim!  I’m just really relieved that it wasn’t me, but still sad for THAT lady… :(  Overall, it was truly one OMG moment for me!

Nakakalokang OMG MOMENT talaga that it made me avoid public transportation for a week!!!  I’m starting to get back to my usual “commuting ways,” but Mayor Lim, do something about THIS for the sake of my fellow Manileños, Taft Avenue, and the City of Manila in general!  Please and thank you.

Moving on…

The following day (Tuesday), we finally stepped foot on the MV Logos Hope (we’re so full of HOPE, no?) with our other friends Angela and Jen. :D :D :D

...some of the places the MV Logos Hope has been to. "Some" being the operative word!

Inside the MV Logos Hope were BOOKS (duh), a cafe, and hundreds of volunteers!  Actually, volunteering for the ship is NOW part of my bucket list!  So when it gets back to our shores, I’ll definitely apply!  Hehehe.

...couldn't really decide what to buy, so may the heavens help our credit card! =))

a cafe inside a ship - reminds me of our cruise trip! Not bad. Not bad AT ALL. :)

And there you have it!  After all that’s been said and done, I realized that no amount of carbon dioxide (sad but true) can stop me from exploring the streets of my beloved Manila!

As posted inside the MV Logos Hope,

"Life is a journey. We're all going somewhere, but where are we going?"

My answer?  Might as well go somewhere you’ll always keep coming back to (THAT song was right after all)…

…and for me, that’ll always be my hometown: MANILA. ♥

THAT Accent

Sobrang babaw ng dahilan but last night, I was literally SMILING before going to sleep.  Why?  Because I watched the interview of A1‘s Ben Adams with Boy Abunda.  It was already around 12:15AM, but I didn’t care — I had to finish the entire Bandila show just to watch a rare interview of one of my boyband member crushes that dates back more than a DECADE ago!!! ;)

So anyway, A1 is here in the Philippines because they have a concert tomorrow, February 25, 2012 (Saturday) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with Blue and 98 DegreesJeff Timmons. :D

Too bad I can’t find a copy of THE interview on the Internet, but I hope this video will suffice:

It’s all about THAT accent, yo! :P

Sabi nga ni Karen Davila, kung may LINsanity na nagaganap sa mga panahong ito, pwes kagabi, namayagpag ang BENsanity!  Numero unong trending topic agad sa Twitter (Philippines) ang interview!!!

Seriously, what is it with THAT accent anyway?  I know it always “has” ME in that Jerry-Maguire-you-had-me-at-hello kind of way AND I know for a fact that I’m not the only one!  Most girls fall for it, too!

Honestly, if the Brits could think of using their “accent” as a form of a marketing strategy, it might just work — at least for ME!  I know this because I think I might just be getting A1‘s latest album…  thanks to THAT interview and yes, thanks to THAT accent!  Haha! ♥

So yeah.  UNFORTUNATELY for me, I won’t able to watch the concert!  Boo-hoo. :(  But FORTUNATELY for me, I can always go to the nearest record store and buy THIS:

-Excerpt from the interview-

Ben Adams: Why do you think roses have thorns?
Boy Abunda: Because beauty is deadly!

(Meganon talaga Tito Boy?!  Wala na tuloy ibang nasabi si Ben kundi TAYNK YOW!  *in THAT sexy British accent of his* HA HA HA)

Oh well.  Gotta keep calm and carry on…
And oh, long live the Queen! :)

P.S: My DTC Mobile giveaway is still ONGOING!  So keep those LIKEs and SHAREs coming to get a chance to win a new phone!  Thanks!!!

Jingle Bell ROCK!!!

In this blog entry, I’d like to take a “short” (and quick!) trip down memory lane.

Destination: just this (past) weekend! ;)

First stop:
“Blogoversary”

First of all, I’d like to greet my blog a HAPPY SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! :D  I actually started this blog on December 11, 2009 ON IMPULSE that’s why I wasn’t THAT consistent at first (you can check out my blog history on my sidebar if you want proof!  Haha!)  But anyway, I decided to publicize it THIS YEAR, and I got hooked — line, sinker, and all that jazz!  I kind of declare 2011 as my “blogging year.”  Having said that, cheers to mooore years of “consistent” blogging!  Yay me!

Next stop:
Jingle Bell “ROCK!”
(Hence the title.)

And then there’s our company Christmas party!  Last Saturday, my company held our annual Christmas Party at Hard Rock Cafe, Glorietta and my golly!  Many “unexpected” things happened…

Hard Rock Cafe logo

Image via Wikipedia

…starting with the pre-party!  Let’s just say that in between getting stuck in traffic for two hours (!) and walking the not-so-short distance from the parking lot to the venue wearing my four-inch heels (!!!), “something happened” at the parking lot.  I’m just glad I was with one of my close friends, Val (she’s the “only” witness AND I, thaaank herrr!)

I’m also happy that I was able to park my car PROPERLY!  Whew!  Whew!!  WHEW!!!  Hahaha!

The Lady and her car. Chos!

Now, let’s go to the actual party!!!  Like I said, Val and I were late for two hours (thanks a lot to the Zobel traffic!), but when we arrived, people were eating already.  Hahaha, nice timing!  Prizes were given.  People were nominated.  Games were played.  Wait, what — people were nominated?  NOMINATED FOR WHAT?  Well, there were two: “Best Dressed” and “Star of The Night.”

I, for one, got nominated for the former.  At isa lang ang masasabi ko: SAAN NANGGALING YUN?!

Wahahahaha!

NakaKALURKEYT MIDDLETON!!!  Kasi naman, this is what I call THE “KULTO” LOOK!  Black na black — parang pang-Halloween lang!  Pero kasi, BLACK AND METALLIC ang theme namin eh!  KALURKEY talaga!!! =))

Good thing I have a co-nominee from my department, Marj (who's also my current seatmate!)

With you Marj by my side, it wasn’t THAT kalurkey anymore!  Meganon?!  Joke lang.  I sound like some freakin’ conyotic-speaking kolehiyala.  Define ANNOYING.  Hahaha, PEACE! :P

Overall, it was one heck of a Christmas party!  I seriously had fun!  Ika nga, it doesn’t really matter “where,” BUT with “who” you’re with!  And with my awesome office friends?  Oh it’s always gonna be a GREAT TIME with GREAT PEOPLE!  Yebah!!!

Introducing, the AWESOME PEOPLE OF CDP:

with Angela and Val

Val and Ms. H

with my "milk tea" buddy, Mark

with CJ

with sexy Kimmy

with Gian (a special shoutout to our IDOL PATTY Laurel!!!)

hahaha.

with KC (a.k.a. Ms. Lucky! She always wins stuff!!!)

with the beautiful Mao

with Maica, Mark, and Val

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!  Which brings us to…

The last stop:
Nyoy Volante and The Rhythmic Circle

Nyoy Volante and his band :)

The after-party was all about a violin, singing (President and CEO included!  Haha!), a violin, jamming, and did I say A VIOLIN— ist?!  HA HA HA

Let’s just say that a few minutes after they started playing (and after our boss started singing!), all eyes were also on the person on Nyoy‘s right — including mine:

Need I say more? ♥

Siya naaa!  Siya na talaga ang HEARTTHROB!  Talented pa!!! ♥♥♥

Lagot-lagot ako nito kay Reed!!! Pa’no ba ‘to, panibagong blog entry na naman ba?  Haha!

‘Nuff said.

;) :D :P

Hotties from Faraway Lands! (Vol. 2)

Back in 2008, I was already into blogging…  I just graduated from college…  I was young…  I was free…  and I had A TON of celebrity crushes!  So the obvious result?  A certified *EYE CANDY* list, which I dub as the “HOTTIES FROM FARAWAY LANDS” list!!! Yes!  ONLY on The Lady’s Blog, people. :P

For my guy readers out there, well, you’re welcome to “back out” NOW because you know, this is a kalandian post — but the cute kind of kalandian ah!  Nakooow!  Basta, it’s a GIRL THING!  Hahaha!

As for my fellow “ladies” out there (girl power!), let’s proceed, shall we? ;)

As you can see on the title, this is already a “sequel.”  So yeah, expect mooore!  Heck, this “list” might even become a “series!” — MIGHT being the operative word!  Wahahahaha!  Anyway, you can check out Vol. 1 here and the Twilight Edition here (I knooow!  Don’t. even. ask.  It was three freakin’ years ago!)  MOVING ON…

I’m still deciding whether or not I can have “repeaters” in my future lists (you know, include those who have been featured in the previous ones), but we’ll see…  For now, I’ll start with those who made it to THIS list — the short list, that is!  So if your hottie’s not here, don’t worry!  I’m already working on Vol. 3!  Heehee.

THE HOTTIES FROM FARAWAY LANDS

#10 Matthew Lewis
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United Kingdom)

It’s amazing how a good set of teeth can instantly transform one person from “no one” to “someone!”  Thank God the perfect pearly whites are the original!  I say the reign of Harry Potter is sooo over…  kaya Neville LongbottomPASOK! :P

#9 Darren Criss
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

He can sing.  He can dance.  He can act.  And he’s half-Filipino!  Need I say more?

#8 Max Irons
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United Kingdom)

Well, if you can have someone like Max beside you all day long, then by all means…  let there be werewolves!!!  (If you didn’t get what I just said right there, then I guess you still haven’t watched Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried). :)

#7 Pierre Boulanger
(Faraway Land of Origin: France)

Aha!  A consistent “name” in this blog of mine.  Ever since I’ve watched Monte Carlo, this French hottie never failed to make me say ooh la la everytime I get a chance to see him — online or on-screen, of course!

#6 Logan Lerman
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

Whether he’s a demigod or a musketeer, one thing’s for sure: Logan is ONE. FINE. LerMAN! ;)

#5 Shia Labeouf
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

I don’t care if he started as an awkward teenager in Even Stevens (but just so you know, I still found him cute even then!)  But what matters most is the “transformation” Transformers has given him!  So Optimus Prime and company, we owe you a lot!  Hahaha!

#4 Reed Jobs
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

I’m a little biased here!  Heehee.  Anyway, I’ve been head over heels for the “Prince of APPLE” for quite some time now that he actually deserves a separate blog entry altogether!  Having said that…  very well, one blog entry coming up! :D

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this:

“When it comes to brains, this ‘apple’ clearly did not fall far from the tree!”
♥♥♥

#3 Chris Evans
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

He’s Captain freakin’ America!!!  I don’t know about you, but this guy had me at the very start!  So let’s go, Cap!

#2 Zac Efron
(Faraway Land of Origin: The United States)

When a guy can still manage to look H-O-T even with his clothes on, well, you can’t really argue with that anymore!  It’s a DONE DEAL, people!  Period.

…and of course, THE HOTTEST of ‘em all:

 #1 Hugh Jackman
(Faraway Land of Origin: Australia)

Let’s see…  He’s one heck of a great actor (he’s my most favorite, by the way!)  Oh, he can sing too — but when he’s not singing, you can hear his very sexy Australian accent.  Aside from that, he’s a very loving husband and father to his wife and children.  Add those awesome abs to this mix = and you get one Hugh Jackman!  One of a kind, indeed.

How about you?  Who are your hotties from faraway lands?
Sound off in the comments section below!

Of Caffeine Fixes and *Fangirl-ing Moments*

Last Monday, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed…  well, the right kind of wrong — I think!  Why?  Because while I was on my way to get my caffeine fix for the day, I was suddenly interrupted by two angels straight from Brazil and Japan respectively!!!  Hahaha!

Okay, fine.  I’m talking about Brapanese actors-slash-models Akihiro Sato and Fabio Ide. *squeal*

AKO NA... ako na ang na-sandwich sa gitna ng dalawang Brazilian-Japanese models! Hahaha!

Don’t get me wrong.  I don’t really get starstruck that much (except if you’re Kate Middleton!)  Simply put that way back in college, my school was a “breeding ground” for celebrities (teka, kasama ba’ko sa mga yunSYEMPRE HINDI!  Hahaha!)  Anyway, I’m already used to seeing them because they were everywhere: classrooms, the cafeteria, hallways, libraries, parking lots, even restrooms!  Besides, tao rin lang naman sila TULAD KO at TULAD MO!  So what’s the BIG DEAL, right?

Yeah, I thought so too.

On that fateful Monday, I realized that there is a “deal” in fangirl-ing.  It may not be “big,” but it’s still a DEAL nonetheless. ;)

The deal is that fangirl-ing is FUN.  Yes, I repeat: F-U-N.

FUNgirl-ing.  Pwedeee!

Why “fun”?  Simply because I was with my friends…  and when you’re with your friends, you know that ANYTHING can happen!  And when I say “anything,” kalokohan is included!  Kalokohan. that. spells. FUN! :)

Alam niyo na  yung mga pa-simpleng sulyap  tapos ‘pag ready ka nang magpa-picture, aatras bigla.  Pagka-atras, biglang tawanan!  At hindi lang basta-basta tawananMALAKAS NA MALAKAS NA TAWANAN!  Oh diba, other than LAUGHTER, what else can you use to measure FUN best?!  WAHAHAHAHA!

Pagbigyan niyo na kami  kasi naman, bibili ka nga lang sana ng kape, bigla nalang may sasalubong sa’yong Akihiro at Fabio!  At higit sa lahat, nalibre pa yung kape mo!  Whew.  Oh well papel.  That’s one of the perks of working in the country’s “business district” AND in one of the business district’s awesome-est buildings! CHOS :P

But anyway, let’s go back to fangirl-ing. ;)  I swear if I hadn’t been with my friends, I WOULDN’T have given in to my inner fangirl-self…

…but I swear if I hadn’t given in to my inner fangirl-self, I would’ve REGRETTED it too — BIG TIME!  Miss the opportunity to pose beside two freakin’ hawt guyysss?  No way, man!  Kaya friendsss, THAAANKS!  Fangirl-ing wouldn’t be complete without you!

That’s right.  FUNgirl-ing won’t be the same without thy FRIENDS. :D

After all, encounters like this can make you truly think that there are “MANY FISH” in the sea…

Akihiro OR Fabio? ♥♥♥

…so don’t go sulking over one “fish” — real or not!  Wahahahaha!

Lastly, being a fangirl isn’t limited to being a fan of “guys!”  It can just simply mean that you’re A FAN.  Period. :P

Let me share with you my other “fangirl” moments:

with Robi Domingo

with Josef Elizalde

with celebrity sisters, Megan and Lauren Young

Just a friendly reminder though:

It’s okay to give in to your fangirl-selves every once in awhile…  but sooner or later, be sure to SNAP OUT OF IT!  Besides, just like anything else (yes, caffeine included), “too much” is bad.

Yes people, too much fangirl-ing is dangerous to your health!!!  So best to do it moderately. ;)

But you can make an EXCEPTION from time to time, too! Heehee.

And since we’re already on the topic of being a fangirl, I’m encouraging YOU all to grab a copy of the newest book of Candy Magazine‘s Assistant Lifestyle Editor, Marla Miniano:

with Ms. Marla

Fangirl is available wherever Candy Magazine is sold.

Fangirl is Ms. Marla‘s FIFTH NOVEL.  Amazing, isn’t she? :)  Anyway, I’m already done reading it and I give it a rating of: ♥♥♥♥♥

So grab a copy now and sympathize with Summer (the protagonist) as she experiences the wonderful world of FUNgirl-ing!

The end. ;)
